What is Hive Choir?

Hive Choir is a queer-affirming singing circle that gathers to learn and share uplifting folk, roots, and medicine songs—songs that move us, ground us, and open our hearts. We sing in rich vocal harmonies, rounds, layers, and chants, and we grow our voices in connection with each other.

This is not a performance-focused group—it’s a community of learning resonance, opening the voice and heart, and a practice of deep listening.

What does queer-affirming mean?

We explicitly affirm and center queerness as beautiful, sacred, and necessary—in contrast to the dominant culture, which sidelines and oppresses it. Queerness is about more than sexuality and gender; it is about bodily autonomy, self-determination, personal choice, sovereignty, and collective liberation. Our queerness is inherently political—especially in this moment—and we are creating a space that leans into discourse, practices repair through conflict, holds multiple perspectives as true and valid, and empowers …
