The Hive Choir is a practice-and-play circle where we get to explore, experience, and experiment with the ancient human magic of singing together. This group learns uplifting folk, roots music, and medicine songs both old and new, with an emphasis on vocal harmonies, layered parts, rounds, and chants. We will sing all kinds of songs with honor and dialogue around the original creator(s) and culture(s) of each song.
PLEASE NOTE this group is for folks who are more or less able to carry a tune, and who have some (even minimal) experience with singing. Absolute beginners may want to get some experience before going deeper, but if you're feeling the call then you are welcome to join as well (I can help you with this if you have question about your musicality).
WHAT DOES QUEER-AFFIRMING MEAN?
We encourage, validate, and center queerness in explicit opposition to the dominant culture which would consign it to the margins. Folks of all genders and identities are welcome to join in. In the season ahead, we're intentionally raising our voices together to amplify personal and collective frequencies of love, creativity, connection to nature, and liberation for all people.
You do not have to identify as queer to join The Hive Choir. You DO need to be committed to unlearning oppressive programming and ready to support folks who are most vulnerable in the space. Come in with curiosity and an open beginner's mind and you'll do great! We are not here to cancel or exclude anyone. Together we are learning to build a truly inclusive culture of mutual nurturance and trust.
The next round of Hive Choir will be from October 6 - December 15, 2025.
